Order rules
Order rules are checks a company’s order must pass at checkout. Buyers see what to fix in the cart and at checkout; Termpact never stops them from editing their cart.
Setting rules
Section titled “Setting rules”Open Price lists, choose a group and open Order rules. Every company location in the group gets these rules.
- Minimum order: the smallest order per currency. It compares the cart subtotal after discounts, on your store’s tax basis: if your prices include tax, so does the minimum.
- First order minimum: used instead of the minimum until a location has placed its first order.
- Allowed products (paid plans): companies can only order products in the collections you choose. Leave it empty to allow everything. You can also hide the other products from them in your online store.
- Quantity rules (paid plans): sell a product only in multiples (cases of 6) or up to a maximum per order. Add products one by one or paste rows from a spreadsheet:
SKU, multiple, maximum, one product per line. - Approval threshold (paid plans, with the buyer portal): orders above it need a location admin’s approval.
The Essentials plan includes minimum orders. Rules you set on a paid plan stay visible after a downgrade but can’t be changed.
Overrides for one location
Section titled “Overrides for one location”Open Customers, choose a location and use Order rules. Each rule shows the price list’s value; tick Override to set a different one for this location only. A location can also allow every product while its group limits them.
Shopify’s own quantity rules
Section titled “Shopify’s own quantity rules”If a Shopify B2B catalog already sets a quantity rule for a product at a location, Termpact leaves that product’s rule to Shopify, so buyers never see two messages for the same rule. Those products are marked Enforced by a Shopify B2B catalog.
How checkout enforces them
Section titled “How checkout enforces them”Termpact checks order rules with one cart and checkout validation (a Shopify Function), created when you install the app. Changes apply about a minute after you save.
The validation is set so that checkout is not blocked if the function itself fails. A bug or an outage can then never stop your buyers from ordering; at worst a rule isn’t enforced for that order.
If the Today page or System status says the validation “is set to block checkout when it fails”:
- In Shopify admin, open Settings → Checkout.
- Under checkout rules, find Termpact order rules.
- Turn off the option that blocks checkout when the rule can’t run.
Emergency switch
Section titled “Emergency switch”The owner or an admin can turn order rules off on the System status page. No Termpact rule applies at checkout within a minute; your rules are kept.
